Windows 98 Upgrade

I have seen a special offer at college offering windows XP upgrade for £10. I have windows 98 currently installed, would this particular upgrade work?

If you are just asking if the 98 to XP upgrade will work based upon OS's only. The answer would be yes, as long as your hardware is compatible with XP. I prefer a new install, but I base that on the type of software that I run on my PC's and Laptops. It's just easier to re-install the software than run into potential post problems due to the upgrade.

If you are asking if the actual upgrade CD will work the answer would be a 99% for sure yes.

There are many Academic Organizations, more than likely all over the world, that M$ offers different levels of their educational licensing to. As with ouselves and the majority of the Universities in my state. At one level the educational facility absorbs a small portion of the cost so they can pass it along to their students @ a fraction of the retail cost. Other than that it is the same thing you pay much more for @ retail stores.

and...(as mentioned in many previous posts) you CAN do a clean install with an upgrade disk.
"Upgrade" simply means that you have already purchased (and still own) a previous Microsoft Operating System (in most cases).

What are your system specs? The upgrade will work but the question is whether you have enough horsepower to run it.
