is this allowed??

Hello All,
Just a quick(maybe stupid) question here.
Am I allowed by law to sell my copy of Windows 98?
I have an OEM disk and the manual.I was thinking of purchasing Windows XP,if I could sell my 98 cd.I didnt know if this was legal since the win98 has been installed on my system.Any info is greatly appreciated.Thanks.

i don't think that would have a problem. specially if your replacing your os. only problemi would think you would encounter is when you still had 98, then for some reason had to have the cd (to reinstall or whatever) then you would run into ****.

other then that, sure why not.

unless the OEM cd was created to only reconize a certain chip on the motherboard or a certain harddrive.
i've heard of that happening with some older COMPAQ, Gateway PCs.

that was my question also ScarCrow28, if he had a for example CompaQ restore disk with 98 on it or a boxed 98 CD.

Is it 98 FE or SE? If SE I may be interested.
