XP windows update

When I'm trying to do the windows update and this is what I got from the page:
Thank you for your interest in Windows Update

Windows Update is the online extension of Windows that helps you get the most out of your computer.

You must be running a Microsoft Windows operating system in order to use Windows Update.

could any1 tell me why I got that message and how do I get some updates? thank you...

Do you try to visit a Windows Update page?

You should run the Windows Update program if you wish to update, not go to a website

I believe it's in the root of the Start Menu

eldon:

"For this to work"

Do you mean this as in your instructions
or this as in Windows Update?
