Secondary Hard drive
My friend just built his computer, and he has his Hard drive all set up with windows 2K. He wants to add his slave drive, which is windows 98 SE, but he just wants to get the files and xfer over to the win 2K hard drive..if he puts in that HD as slave, will it work? what needs to be done?

My guess is..since the 2nd hard drive is already partitioned and has files on it..Win 2K should detect it fine aslong as it is slave..am I right? if not, what does he have to do?

If your concern is that it won't work because it has an OS installed you can stop worrying. It will work. He will be able to read and write from/to it. As long as it is as slave the OS will be Win2k and the OS installed onto the slave (Win 98 in this case) won't interfere with the OS installed on the master.

Nuclear, in order to dual boot with the two hard drives, I would have to whipe out the slave drive and repartition it in order to dual boot right?

or would I have to edit the boot file in win2K? If so what line(s) would I have to add..Since it is already partitioned..it is the first partition on the win98se system..

you could do 1 of 2 things...
go through Hpro's way 2k should be the same thing. How to ADD Win9X or WinMe to EXISTING WINXP Computer or you could wipe clean the 2k install and run 98 the install the 2k while running windows. and it should change the boot in file. make 98 master.read through this one. http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=33269 HTH Zaney123 |

What can I do? -Matt |

Does NTFS work well with FAT32? Because I was stuck with formatting and converting the drive to NTFS from FAT32. So I guess I cannot copy FAT 32 files to a NTFS file system hard drive right? I used the manufacterers partioning program, where you can copy the files onto another drive, it allowed me to copy files from my NTFS drive into FAT32, but not from FAT32 into NTFS.. This is my friends computer, but I am just typing for him..any suggestions?
