Secondary Hard Drive not valid
Second post..really need the answer to this question...
I have a Maxter 40GB hard drive installed with WIN2K set as MASTER. I have another hard drive from my old computer, that is a maxter 40GB that has windows 98 SE on it, and is formatted with the FAT32 system.. I want to get files off my second hard drive, so I put in the second hard drive, put in as slave, BIOS recognized it, went into WIN2K, saw it as Drive E, but when I clicked on explore, it said the drive needs to be formatted. I cannot afford to format this drive, I really need the files, what do I do? also when I clicked on properties, it said unknown for file system and 0 bytes for size..I am 100% sure it has FAT32 and Win98SE, because I have used it a few days ago and had over 30GB of data on it.. What can I do? Since I am using Win2K, I do not have FDISK support. P-S= Please answer ASAP -Matt |

Just to clear up confusion..it is not formatted with the FAT32 system..but it is loaded with the FAT32 file system.

which 1 did you format 2k or 98? if it the cable has 3 different colors on it the yes set it to CS..Blue connector to mobo and black connector for drive that is to be master and set drive to cable select. and use middle connecter for the slave.

98..but I think I figured out the problem..FAT 32 cannot view NTFS..that is why the files couldn't transfer over..My friend could of installed WIN2K with FAT32 and then move over the files, then upgrade to NTFS...
