Problem Loading Windows 98

Whenever I load up Windows 98, I get a protection error caused while initiating the ndis device (ndis.vxd). I can load Windows fine if I do a step-by-step confirmation and just skip this one (its one of the Windows drivers). However, does anyone know what this program does, and if its not important, how can I get Windows to stop trying to load it every time I turn on the computer?
