Dual Booting Advice.
Seems like i've seen every article out their concerning adding WindowsXP to a second partition which already has Windows98 on it, and adding Windows98 to a second hard drive, but my problem concerns neither.
I'll keep it short but, i have partition magic 7 (so obviously i have boot magic as well), and an 80 gb hard drive with 3 NTFS partitions. Would it be possible to add a 4th FAT partition, and install windows 98 on it? I'm not really wanting to start over with XP just so i can run window 98 as well, and my original intention was not to run win98 at all (dual boot) but i can't seem to avoid the problem with old programs and games which refuse to work under XP (and i've used compatibility features, blah blah, but they don't work very well). Also, i'm not so interested in getting a second HD for now. I have 80GBs with at least 58GB free

Hi,
If you have anything important, do a backup first just in case. Now, you have three ntfs partitions which is good because win98 "doesn't see them". Boot up with a win98 or winMe floppy and go into fdisk. Create a primary partition and make it active. Reboot and format the partition, then start the install. The install will be onto the C: partition. After win98 is installed, do a fixboot to restore the dual boot. |

Thanks for the info
![]() Just the part with FDisk, is it not possible to create the primary partition from partition magic? Just currious, and it's nothing major having to use FDisk, i'm just less comfortable using DOS than being in the main windows environment

Sorry, I forgot that you are using PM. It should work, it's just that I'm still living in the old dos days.
Even using disk management in W2k or XP should work. One program that I KNOW works and very nicely is Partition Boot Manager. Check it out here... http://www.sadevelopment.com/pbm/pbm.htm I have 19 Operating Systems loaded and have room for 1 more on this 13GB hard drive. I suppose that I'll have to break down and buy a 40GB hard drive soon.
