retrieving internet network settings
is there anny way to retrieve dns and gateway settings under win xp when they are sset to auto detect.
if the winipcfg command works under win xp i thnik i can get a hold of the gateway. this still leeaves the dns settings. the elaborate problem is this: one win 95 pc without internet (cause i do't know the settings) but with a lan connection to a router. one win xp pc with inetrnet but all settings set to autodetect. 2 users of whom neither know how to handle a pc. the owner of the win 95 pc is a friend of mine..... ( i think you get the scenario) for more info on problems with the win 95 pc please have a look at the thread i just posted under win 95/98 forum. thank you |

corosus,
On the WinXP machine, open a command prompt/DOS window and type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes. This will give you the desired information. Hope that helps. The Old Man |
