video
My daughter downloaded a video/movie from kazaa. My question is there a way that I can play the movie on my tv screen. Are there cables that I need to run from my computer to the tv, if so what are they called and is there a software that I need?
Thanks, Larry |

Hi kmbrln2,
It all depends on what equipment you have. What kind of video card do you have?? Does it have a "TV Out" ?? That, or the like, would be required. TwoRails |

Might help compressing the file a bit, that way it can be played on a DVD player, but as far as simply VCR goes, you would need a TV-out video card. Logan

I am not sure of the video card. I have emailed Dell asking them. I am quite sure that it does not have tv outputs though. Where doIi get this type of video card and approx how much are they? is there a place to get them form the net relatively cheaper, like ebay or something?
Thanks, Larry |

By the time you finish, you will have spent as much money as you would buying several movies and you also wouldn't be participating in violation of any copyright laws.

True indeed, it would be violating the copyright laws. However, I'll assume there is a reason for you to not buy the movie, or this is simply a learning experience.
It would probbably be best to try to figure out how to make a video-CD, but most downloaded videos are in .avi which would be hard to make into a video-CD. To find out if your video card has TV-out, look on the back for a port about the same size as your keybard/mouse port, small and round(S-video connection). -OR- Go to: my computer> control panel> display> settings> advanced> device selection and it should show you the options for selecting TV-out if your card PC has TV-out. Most cards such as a GeForce 3 and GeForce 4 have TV-out, a good TV-out card such as a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 with TV-out should set you back about $100. Logan |
