Access is Denied
HELP
I have some files that are .txt and whe I try to open it I get a message in wordpad Access is Denied I right click an go to Properties: Attributes: Read-only and Hidden are the only 2 choices and they are not selected. If I click on Advanced: File is ready for archiving (not selected) For fast searching, allow Indexing, ect (selected) Compress contents to save disk space (not selected) Encrypt contents to secure data (selected) I attempt to un check Encript contents to secure data and it still tells me access in denied. Is this possible a virus or a hacker. I was able to access this information a few days ago and now nada. Please help... |

Check your security settings. Make sure you have permission to acces them. Or log in as administrator and adjust accordingly

If you are using XP Home you need to boot up into safe mode to get access to the file security settings. Press F8 before XP starts up and you will get the ability to select "Safe Mode". Then you need to log as the admin.

Sorry, i ment file access permissions, but you can only get to them in safe mode as you can't turn off simple file sharing. It's totally dumb.
