I have a Packard Bell Legend computer (166 MHz) that had Windows 95 on it. I updated to Windows 98, and all worked great. While trying to install an Iomega tape drive (internal), and powering down / booting up, I have developed a problem. Now when I start my computer, the computer hangs on the Windows 98 welcome screen. The “wave” at the bottom of the screen scrolls, but it will never go into the desktop !!! I re-installed Windows 98, and a version of the same thing happened – the PC hung on the window that said “running windows 98 for the first time”, but never went into the desktop.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem??? Thank you. |

Have you tried unplugging the Iomega tape drive?
