I have a problem deleting a file which i dont need anymore. everytie i try do delete it, it says that there file is being use by a program. I want to delete a movie file-but i cannot. I have upgraded to NTFS(win xp)- doing so it says that some files could not be change from fat32 to ntfs. I even try deleting the file throuhg command prompt. but it says it could'nt delete the file. The file is a movie file from my digital cam. I'm not sure if my brother used visual basic to encrypt the file so i could'nt delete it. Any way to delete the file?

Did you try to reboot and then try to delete the file?

Try booting into safe mode and see if you can then delete it.

You can delete any file in XP by opening a command window and the taskmanager. Select End Process for Explorer.exe. Delete the file using the cmd window like you would have in DOS. Then in the taskmanager select new process and type in Explorer.exe. Takes longer to read it than it does to do it.

Try to boot using your Windows XP CD, select repair, and then login as the admin, then you'll get the command prompt, delete the file using the command del filename
