nero problems
hi
i have a pextor cd writer (24X) with burnproof and i have nero installed. untill recently i had no problems with it, nero burned all my cd's wether it was only 200 mb in lots of small files or the full 700 in a singe file. recently i've been getting eror messages when i ask nero to burn a cd larger then 650 mb i treyed uninstalling and reinstalling nero but it did not help the eror message is " unable to preform endtrack" what might be the cause of this and can it be helped? if so, how? thank you |

Hi
I have the same burner, never had any problems. BUT I don't use Nero. I have read post after post at CDburning forums about this rather finicky program. However, the problem might just be the discs you are using. First make sure they can hold the amount of data you are trying to copy. Some cheaper discs won't hold even what they say they will. The program I use for burning is called "WinonCd" and it's manufactured by Roxio. It's a much much better program than EZCD Creator. In my experience it has been bullet proof and is full featured. But, it's not availble in the states. Living where you do you can locate it here should you care to give it a try: http://www.roxio-shop.com/ (if you do decide to use it, just be sure to fully uninstall Nero first, and delete any and all registry entries...) Sounds like the disks you're burning can't go over 600mb.

maybe a trip to the plextor site for a firmware update would help...
I've burned dozens of 750mb discs with my 24-10-40 no problem. |

I have had conflicts between disks and Nero before. Even though they're 700mb disks, Nero thinks they're only 620 (something like that) and won't write over 600mb.
I got around it by going to File, Preferences, General tab, and unchecking "check for correct disk format". Not sure if this will work for you though. You could try overburning... |

Sure looks like drive has gone south. Have you tried cleaning. May just need lens alignment.
