Invalid boot.ini file
Everytime I boot into XP Pro, before it completely boots it, I get a black screen that says something along the lines of this:
INVALID BOOT.INI FILE WINDOWS WILL BOOT FROM C:\WINDOWS Then XP loads fine. This just recently started happening... I noticed I can't find my boot.ini file at all! Maybe thats the reason? How can I get a new boot.ini file? Thanks guys, Dave

Try what HAL suggested from another tread.
Boot up using a Windows ME CD...Go into the C prompt and then change it to PATH=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND and then run whatever you want. HAL..Correct me if I am wrong on the statement above Last edited by Markoman01027; 11-20-2002 at 07:05 PM. |

Not really familiar with Windows XP and the DOS thing..Perhaps you can make a Windows 98SE boot disk and load up into DOS from using that disk..not too sure..again somebody correct me if I am wrong.

Maybe it would be easier if someone just sent me there boot.ini and I could edit it to fit my own needs?

Try booting up with your windows XP CD..with CD-ROM support..go into DOS..type in PATH=C:\windows\command or try CD C:\windows\command and then when you enter the directory of windows\command .. try using some DOS commands like EDIT, FDISK, and see if they work

It's a hidden file, so click on Toos, Folder Options, then show hidden files.
