Exclamation Clean install with a dual XP CD (Home/Pro)

Does anybody know how to do a clean install from a Windows XP Pro/Home CD? This isn't your typical disk. It has both Home and Pro on the same disk. All of the .exe files are in different directories (none of them are in the root).

I tried installing from windows ME, but all that did was delete my old operating system, and install the new one. I want to start fresh. I want to format my hard disk and start over.

If I try to boot from CD, it will never work, because the files are buried in a directory other than root.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Scott

format your hd, then in dos go into the cd and find the directory with the install files for whichever OS you want. the smart thing to do would be to find out exactly where the setup.exe file is, find it and write down what folder it is in. once you find the file, run it and it should install.

Any boot disk with CD-ROM support.
Check www.bootdisk.com or use your old Win98 bootdisk.

I am currently running XP. I thought that you couldn't format when you were running XP.

Huh?
XP is just the OS on the hard drive.
Boot to any bootable floppy, with the right tools, and you can do anything you want to the drive.

just write zeros to your hard drive. I got a program that does that for free from the gateway website.
