re: dilemna
i am a amateur in the pc world but have heard about this already, it seems there is a new way to send infomercials to your pc using the messenger built into windows , i do not know how to explain it but you should be able to install a firewall and take care of this problem ............pc experts please jump in and give more info please....from what i can understand it is not any kind of virus or spyware more like insta-spam on your pc........the only good kinda SPAM comes out of a can from Hormel....YUM,YUM

To stop these messenger popup’s all you have to do is disable Windows messenger. This isn’t to be confused with MSN Messenger, there no the same. Follow the steps below for XP and or 2000.
Windows XP 1. Click on the Start button and open the control panel. 2. Open the Performance and Maintenance control panel and go to Administrative Tools. 3. Now double-click on Services, then scroll to Messenger. 4. Double-click Messenger and click Stop to stop the service. 5. Change the startup type to Disable and click Apply at the bottom. 6. Click OK to exit window. Windows 2000 1. Click on the Start button -> Settings -> Control Panel. 2. Double click on Administrative Tools. 3. Now double-click on Services, then scroll to Messenger. 4. Double-click Messenger and click Stop to stop the service. 5. Change the startup type to Disable and click Apply at the bottom. 6. Click OK to exit window. Lance. |
