2000 upgrade problems

My mate has tried to upgrade his Win98 OS to ME and then to 2000 but 2000 wasn't very happy (missing drivers etc.).

He pulled the plug on the upgrade to 2000 and cancelled it but we still have the message at start-up asking which OS we want to boot from: WinME or Win2000.

How can I remove this from the boot menu - I can't find anything obvious ?

TIA

ME is installed on the C drive and working properly - Yes?

If so boot from a startup disk and at the a:\> prompt type "sys c:" without the quotes and hit enter. This copies the files over to make C drive bootable and takes the place of the 2000 boot loader.
