Question Just Wondering...

I'm running WinXP and use IE as my browser. I have IE set up on my quick launch so the IE's properties Maximize the IE windows when I open it from the quick launch. But after the the First page is opened and I open a webpage in a new window, that window is so freakin small I have to maximize it everytime.

Is there anyway for me to make it so that when I open websites in a new window it launches maximized?

thx,
jalbes

Usually the 'new window' settings will be whatever it was when you last closed IE. Open your IE, maximize it, then open a page in a new window and maximize that one as well. Now close both windows. It should remember your new window settings from that.

I've found that if you maximize the "new window", it will not remember that setting. However, if you drag your window to the desired size, and then close it. The "new window" will remember this setting.

tried that too, but with XP it doesn't like remebering that it was extended.

Is there a registry fix I can do?

thx,

thanx Nuclear Krusader, but that's only a short term solution.

When I open IE and then open a in a new page, I extended the border and pressed shift as I closed it down. Then every page I opened up in a new window would extend to the edges of my resolution.

BUT... when I closed all of my IE pages and launched IE from my quick launch (my properties are set to maximized on that shortcut) only the first window is maximized and all of the new windows that I open up are sitll really small, so I have to re-extend them and press shift+close again until I close everything down again.

There's got to be something in the registry for this. Anyone else have any advice? You have no idea how small and annoying it is to resize all of these new windows.

Thanx,
jalbes

The trick is to make sure you close the resized window last. IE wants to remember the size of the last window closed.

In other words:
1. Open IE
2. Open a link in a new window (which will be small)
3. Resize the second window
4. Close the first window
5. Close the second window

After that, new IE windows should open the size you set. I've used this method for quite a while and it's never failed.

Ok, That works!

Still not perfect, but it'll do. It's as close to maximized as I can get I guess.

Thx Miz, IOU
