Start > Control Panel > Add or remove programs > Add/Remove Window Components. A box should come up scroll down till you see the icon for wmp. Also make sure you are not removing anything or adding something you don't want. You must also be logged in as administrator. HTH

First, uninstall it if you can via add/remove programs, Add/remove windows components, in control panel.
Go to the windowsupdate site, view installed updates, and select to reinstall WMP.

that is cause WIndows Media PLayer 8 is integrated into Windows XP and only for that OS you will not see it on Microsoft's site for download.

XP comes with WMP7.1 so it should upgrade to WMP 8 via the site...If it doesn't, just go here and get whatever version you want: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...ad/default.asp
If you uninstall WMP via add/remove programs, add/remove windows components, under the Accessories and Utilities, then Multimedia, then restart the computer.
Go back through the add/remove...etc...put the tick mark back in, it will reinstall.
I thought there were WMP updates out already...you can even get WMP9beta...?

Go to the site below and download/install Add/Remove Plus. This program will allow you to uninstall the current WMP and clean up the registry.

Yeah, go to your temporary internet file folder and make a folder named GH6JKHY7. Then go to you IE Properties/Settings and increase the amount of space dedicated to the Temporary internet files.
