video card lag in XP

I have been running XP Pro for 4 months now, and i just got a new HD(75Gb 7200RPM WD for $50 plus 256mb ram, great deal), so i take out my current 15Gb HD and put in the 75Gb. I reinstall XP the same way I have when i formatted before, but now my video card seems to be lagging. I go to play a game and it is a lot slower than before. I have a nVidia GeForce MX-400 64Mb. I reinstalled the drivers and everything but it is still lagging. Any ideas?

Thanks ^dan

Specs:

Jabil AMD motherboard
600MHz AMD Athlon K7
384Mb SDRAM
C: 75Gb 7200RPM WD
D: 30Gb 7200RPM WD
E: 60Gb 7200RPM WD

Did you try to de-frag the disk? What game are you playing? It might be using page file swapping. Is the hard drive light coming on allot while you play the game?

in NFS i am getting 10-11 FPS when driving alone, and it drops to 6-8 FPS when there are other cars or cops. I played Fifa 2003 and was getting 23-26 FPS all the time. I am gonna install Quake 3 tomorrow and see what happens.
