Hi cvt,
Welcome to PC Mechanic !! ![]() That is typical of either your TEMP (or TMP) directory and / or your My Documents is not in the same location as Windows thinks it is / are suppose to be at. Verify the location and that everything point to them, like any Desktop links and the like. HTH ![]() TwoRails |

Thanks TwoRails for your response.
The TEMP and My Documents directories are in Windows location only (E drive where Windows 2000 prof. installed). I think this is somthing related to Registry. Coz when i was trying to install .NET on H drive, it was trying to write something on the registry that time it gave the error. i thought the error is related only to .NET. But then i tried to install the Office 2000 on H drive that time also i got the same error. if i try to install any software which doesnt need to write anything on the registry is installing perfectly on the H drive, otherwise it gives the error "Error 1317 An error occurred while attempting to create the directory: h:\program files " |

Hmmm. Every time I've gotten the error, it's been solved with the above. Maybe this one is in reverse....
Try searching the Registry for all occurances of "H:" and see if there is a wrong reference of something pointing to 'h:' that should not. Still might even be something like 'h:\myfiles' or 'h:\program files,' or the like... That's all I can think of right now, cvt. HTH TwoRails |
