Happy Holidays,
I have an online ISC.ro scrabble game that has worked and made various sounds for months. I have also played various types of PC music during the games. Both music and game sounds were audible "together." Now only the music is working. The game is now mute. Is there a XP setting that can turn off game audio? My 13 year old son whom I blame everything on says that he changed nothing. I read something about irq's crashing but haven't a clue whether that has anything to do with the problem. Using XP help I found an audio volume setting that was at zero but it was SHADED and not accesible. Mike |

Hi there Mike,
What audio volumen setting was that? Is that the only game that it's muted or are there others soundless now too? What are those system's specs? Onboard sound?

Thanks for giving me a shove Nuclear Krusader!!
I played a game of MS pinball to music, no sound. It relaxed me. I went to Sound and Audio Devices Properties Sound Playback & Sound Recording were set to Modem # 0 line playback Modem # 0 line record I changed both to the "Aureal Audio" option And the game sound is back. My guess is that my son installed software that changed the settings somehow. Processor Intel Pentium III, 501 MHz System Board ICO Peripherals, Inc. I have found that XP can change some settings for no reason at all. Just remember if you completely lose the sound, all you have to do is go into the "Device Manager" and remove the SOund Card entries and then in the Control Panel select Add New Hardware and this will Normally reinstall it.
