Angry Fire 4 Minute boot with XP! What's the deal?

Well, like the subject says, it take my pc approx. 4 minutes to boot (from hitting restart button to login screen). This really sucks. My computer went from 10 sec boot time with Windows ME to this! Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreaciated. System basics are as follow:

KT333 mainboard with VIA Chipset
AMD Thunderbird 1 gig
512MB DDR 333
NVIDIA GeForce 2 Pro
Yamaha AW744 Pro Sound Card

if any other information is need just ask...

How many programs do you have running? Also XP has a lot of services that have to do with networking that you can disable. Just look at the list below and it will explain how to do this and what each service is.

This was a clean install. Infact, I've gotten so sick of the boot time that I've reformatted and reinstalled ME several times but I keep coming back to XP cause, well, it's just so gosh darn pretty!

Download the Bootvis tool here http://www.microsoft.com/hwdev/platf...ootVisdwn.asp? It should be able to tell you what is taking all the time.

NICs and Networks seem to be common offenders.

Do you have either?

Also some have said, the more USB devices you have installed, the longer it takes to boot. So the answer is to try plugging them in after Windows has loaded.

File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is another offender.

As pointd suggested, BootVis should help you identify the culprit.

OK, I used the BootVis utility and it shows the Registry and Page file as the main delay. I then ran the Optimize System in bootvis option and still the same.

As for nics or networks, just a direct cable connection to the good ol' WWW. I currently have only one USB device connected, Sidewinder GamePad.

There is something that maybe I should've mentioned b4. I have 3 HD's running on a NORMAL RAID configuration. Both MOBO IDE channels are filled with optical drives(CD-RW, CD-ROM,DVD-ROM,DVD-R/CD-RW). I think maybe I neglected to mention this because the system works fine under Windows ME.

I'm a big time NEWBIE when it comes to RAID so if there is something I should do in this area please break it down into second grade level for me. TIA!
