reinstalling winxp professional
something went wrong when i tried to upgrade winxp professional so i decided that after i burn all my important stuff off the computer i will reinstall xp. can someone tell me how i do this though? do i just reinstall xp from the xp cd i have? Does that mean that i have to reformat my drives ( i have two of them)? so does reinstalling xp just delete everything that is on my computer now and start over? what about drivers? Which drivers will i need for xp to start working? also, will my internet start working right away after the reinstall or do i have to do something to that? I want to make sure my internet works at the least becuz i need it for help if anything goes wrong. right now im in safe mode and can't get the computer to regular mode. will reinstall in a few days after i burn everything off. thanks for any help.

"Upgraded and you want to get back to your old operating system them why not try removing XP through it's uninstall feature in both windows and Dos" Does anyone know how this works? it gives me the steps but will this really get my old windows back or will i run into even more problems? Thanks. |

also, cricket, which one of those options on that page you gave me is for me to do? I only see how to How to Install Windows XP Professional on a new Hard Drive that is unformatted. my drives have a whole bunch of info and have already been used.

If you have backed everything up, just boot from your CD and have your XP CD in the drive. XP had drivers for my NIC and I had no trouble getting on the net. Are you using dial-up, DSL or cable? Do you not have the drivers for your devices?

I'm not going to close this thread because I'm quite confused, but in the future, would you please keep ONE thread going? You have 3 threads going on your issue.
