Quick question

Could someone please help with instructions on inserting a picture and text in the Windows System Property window. Thanks in advance for any help. I am using XP Home edition.

In your \windows\system32 directory, there are two files: OEMINFO.INI and OEMLOGO.BMP. The .INI file contains the text, the .BMP is the picture. Simply change these files to display the text and picture that you want.

you can use a simple paint program and save it as a .bmp, just make sure to then change from .bmp to .ini

That didn't work. I have done this before long time ago but there was some sort of way to write it like HTML is written. Also how do you change the extentions of a file in XP? I had to use Command prompt to change the BMP to INI. Still new to XP. Thanks.

Just to be clear, there are two files you need. OEMINFO.INI and OEMLOGO.BMP.

Here is my OEMINFO.INI file. It should give you the general idea:

Code:
; Manufacturer and Model are displayed on System.General page
; Manufacturer is a required field
[general]
Manufacturer=Dell Computer Corporation
Model=Dell Optiplex GX150

[Support Information]
Line1=When contacting Dell Computer for support, please have
Line2=the following information available.
Line3=
Line4=    Asset Tag: 60XYZ12
Line5=    Express Service Code: 123-456-789-01
Line6=
Line7=For online support, please go to http://support.dell.com
