Guys,
I have just installed Windows 2000. I'm running an Intel Celeron 1.7ghz, 384mg SDRAM, GeForce4 Ti 4200 128mg on a ECS P4S5A/DX Motherboard. Anyway, some games are running slow and I have noticed when I go into the graphic adapter settings the Bus Type is set to PCI Slot 1?!?!?! Shouldn't the Bus Type be set to AGP???? I've tried everything on the Motherboard Bios that there is to change but still no luck. I'm hoping that someone can help me, any ideas would be great........... Cheers, Michael |

HI McBain,
Welcome to PC Mechanic !! ![]() Did you disable the onboard video? Did you install the utilities that came with the vid card? Did you set the BIOS to default to AGP? You also need to Enable IRQ for Video. TwoRails |

Thanx TwoRails. There is actually no onboard vid with this mobo, I have installed the utils that have come with the video card and have set the Bios to AGP as default. The IRQ for Vid is set as well, maybe I have missed something, very weird I think.

HI McBain,
You've probably already downloaded and installed the latest drivers, I assume... I also take it you set the AGP memory in the BIOS to 128? Out of curiousity, what do you mean by "slow?" I ask because some people I know judge only by frame rate, and not how the game looks on screen; as in some say 30 fps is slow for a certain game. TwoRails |

AGP Bios in the memory is set to 128mg. Slow as in very choppy and the FPS rate is usually below 30....................very strange. I have all up to date drivers.

Hi McBain,
Even after a few cold ones this Friday night, I really can't think of anything else off hand.... Maybe experiment with the cards settings, like AA and the like. What res are you using? Refresh rate? You may have to kick the settings down a notch... Maybe someone else has some more ideas?? TwoRails |
