Question on sound to computer from tape
I am running Windows ME..... Just a general question...
I have a valuable home recorded cassette tape with unreplaceable voice data on it. The first few minutes of the tape is fine, but midway into the tape(sound) it speeds up by itself so it is not recognizeable. Is there any way I can load the sound on my computer or any computer and slow down the sound at the given spot so it is understandable ? This is probably an impossible question. Thanks for any help. |

Hi hmcfadden,
Yes. Many audio editing software programs allow you do adjust pitch and speed. Cool Edit is just one of those programs. Remember the Hamster Dance Web page?? I took that song, slowed it to what I felt was the original speed, then corrected it to sound like a human. There are others as well, and I'm sure they'll get posted by others. HTH TwoRails PS: it can be found at: http://syntrillium.com/ |

I went there to confirm the URL, and it not even the same. The original was voted the Most Useless Site, and was even on TV commercials (Yahoo, I think...). It had a full, repetitive page of little animated hampsters dancing in a little animated type voice (an old recording speeded up to sound funny). That was the whole page !!
And it was funnier than you'd image (kinda like a "you had to be there" thing). Well, the Hampster Dance song is now gone, and the site looks like someone bought them out and went commercial.... either www.hamsterdance.com or www.hampsterdance.com will get you there... but it's not as cute (only spent a few moments there...) I wonder if they / he / she got in trouble for using a copyrighted song???? |
