Many firewalls and routers come configured for vpn and pcanywhere, so you might just have to enable them and set ports to suit, if need be. Look in the configuration ute for the fwall?

You will also need IPsec pass through as well as PPTP on your router.

Ipsec will be handled by the os and app, I think. Sorry I forgot to mention oakley and whatnot.

ok, so as far as installing and configuring, i looked on the ms knowledgebase at 308208: HOW TO: Install and Configure a Virtual Private Network Server in Windows 2000.
i followed the directions, and once it's done, the server no longer seems to be connected to the internet. any tips or help for configuring 2000? |

ok, let me clarify what i want done and what i've already got working:
background: my network is behind a real crappy little firewall. we have an exchange server behind that firewall. i poked a hole in the firewall so that all mail coming to my firewall transfers it back to my exchange server. the exchange server is currently routing and distributing mail for two domains: company1.com and company2.com. the mail is working great. i want to enable certain users to be able to access their e-mail from outside the network. like users that go on vacation (i don't see how it can be much of a vacation with work e-mail, but what do i know), users that go out of town on business trips, and users that have web enabled mobile phones. i know this is possible, i just don't know how to configure it. |
