Problem with shortcut/CD-ROM-DVD
When I create a shortcut for my CD ROM and my DVD-ROM to place on my desktop, It will not let me change the icon. I get the following message which I am uploading to this thread. I can change icons on every other shortcut I have created except these. Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks |

Hi brent;
I assume you are using winxp, which I have and tried what you are describing. I got same error, but when putting in a disk then it let me change it, but then only to an icon from that disk. I did that then put in a different disk and now was able to change the icon to any one I wanted from the windows xp list of all the different pictured icons, cause now it could not find that first one from the first disk so it let me change to anyone I wanted. Just took a little tweaking!

thanks for the info, but that didn't work. It let me change the icon if it was on the disc, but even if I put in another disc it says the same thing. It will not let me change icons. Anybody else?

Ok,
here is how I fixed the problem. I inserted a disc and changed the icon from the icons stored in the system folder instead of the ones on the disc and ejected the disc. The icon remained without displaying the error. Last edited by brentconn; 12-07-2002 at 09:06 PM. |
