Sound problems
Ok, to make a long stort short, my 5.1 creative inspire speaker are workin just fine except the rear 2 (Which were workin last week). Now in case anyones wondering, I have a sound blaster audigy card installed. Now to the problem: Everytime I start windows a little scren comes up that says finishing installing audio card which has never come up before, then it dissapears. When I look into my Device Manager and open the sound, video, and game controllers list its listed as follows:
Audio Codecs Creative Game Port Creative SB Audigy Legacy Audio Drivers Legacy Video Capture Devices Media Control Devices Video Codecs...... Now unless someone has already picked up on something that I didnt, I suppose my question would be regarding the Legacy stuff, I dont ever remember seeing these before... Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanx, Sean |

HI Badboysean,
Did you recently install the Audigy? Did you disable the onboard sound? Did you recently install any SB software updates? Did you make any other changes this last week? TwoRails |

Well, I installed my audigy a while back and reinstalled it yesterday to see if anything changed and it didnt. I installed the latest XP audigy driver but it was still workin after that if my memory serves me correctly. I checked the bios and my onboard sound is off also, pretty confusing eh?

Hi Badboysean,
Do you have any duplicates or question / exclamation marks anywhere? I don't run XP, but my Win 98.2 box does Not list any "Legacy" devices in my Device Manager -- I also run the Audigy. I would probably delete these and let Windows rebuild them if they're necessary... Yes, weird... TwoRails |

I run XP and I have the audigy platinum and I show the same sound devices that badboysean has in device manager, but I don’t know what could be causing the problem and wish I did. Did you check the creative mixer options as well as the sound card properties in control panel to make sure the speaker output is set to 5.1?

Well guys, I most def. appreciate all the help but theres some good news this time. Somehow the polarity got reversed in the speaker wires and now everything is good again. Like I said before, I knew something weird was goin on .......
