Partitioning

Hello everybody..Just a simple question on partitioning..

Whenever I wanted to add a D drive letter to my current line up, I would go into FDISK and do LOGICAL drive and then do EXTENDED partition, would set the amount of size I wanted.

My question is. Since you are allowed to make I believe four primary partitions. If I have one primary partition as C, can I make another primary partition? would that be D? Or in order to get D, I would have to do Logical partition --> Extended?

I know the way I did would create the drive letter that I wanted, but my question is if I would to create another primary partition, would I still get a D drive letter in windows 98se?

Simple question. Simple answer..heheh

Also, I am not too familiar with the proper definitions. If you guys can, please tell me what the exact definition of a Primary Partition is, Logical Partition, and Extended Partition? Do Logical and Extended go together(I believe so).

Thanks Guys!

Thanks for the link. That is a very thorough tutorial and now I think I understand how to use this utility and will stop looking for a copy of partition magic.

Magic is ok if you already have the drive installed with stuff on it. Otherwise fdisk or the hard drive utility itself works for free.
