Windows ME_Dell_Unable to Shutdown
My first posting...Shutdown problem on Dell desktop 4100/Windows ME/Pentium III.
I'm unable to shutdown with normal Shutdown sequence. Would like to avoid having to go through manual shutdown, and eventual disk scan on restart. Dell very diffecult to deal with now that support is "offshore". I'll keep looking for previous posts on this subject, and any help will be appreciated. |

Hi bt711
and welcome to Pc Mechanic. Since your operating system is Windows ME, if this problem just recently started, you have the option of running System Restore (It's explained in the "Help" files... just click on Help and look around). You'd pick a restore date prior to the shutdown trouble. If you added any hardware or software just before the problem started, you might need to reinstall them (of course, that can bring the problem back, too). There's a site with a Windows Shutdown TroubleShooter: http://www.aumha.org/a/shutdown.htm Best of luck . . . Gary |
