setting xp lan internet connection manually
hi, ik have no experience with xp, i'm a win98se man myself,
in the house where i live we have a server with a internet connection and a lan connected to all the computers and the serverof course. yesterday one of my neigbours bought a new pc with win Xp and i want to configure the internet, how do i do this, i can not find the network sttings or how to set inet explorer to connect tru lan i have a dns server that needs to be set, a gateway and i need to appoint an ip adress and a subnet mask to themachine how do i do this in winXP |

Hello Corosus:
it is realy no different than the earlier versions of Windows. Just right click Network Neighborhood, go to properties and then here is the one difference. You will now see all the installed network connections including dial-ups. From there you right click Local Area Network Connection and then properties and from there I believe you should be quite familiar with the screens to set your DNS, Default Gateway and IP Address and subnet. On Internet Explorer just use tools>internet options>connections tab then LAN settings. You probably just needs to be sure automatically detect settings is checked!
