The hard disk controllers should be on the disk that came with the motherboard, or the motherboard manufacturer's website. The network adapter and modem, you should also have disks for those. If not, it's relatively easy to find drivers on the net, just use google.com and search.
Java Plug in, don't worry about. XP will install it's version. |

Athlon/Duron based mobos with VIA chipsets need the 4-in-1 drivers installed to really work properly. Intel based ones do not, and I have no idea about SiS ones, never used any.
XP is usually pretty good about IDE drivers, they just work with no fussing. Go into device mangler and check what it has to say about your modem and NIC, write it all down, and post here. If XP doesn't come with a driver for it, I'm sure someone will find one on the web. |

You can use the XP Pro Upgrade, which will give you the option to do a "clean" install of XP Pro, which I HIGHLY recommend if you are moving up from ME.
ME is so full of bugs, and better to be safe by backing up what you need, and choosing the option for a clean install of XP. |
