XP Pro will work fine for the hardware you named. But you will be limited to amount of users that can log on to it. I believe it is ten if I remember correctly.

Why IDE RAID? Spend the extra money and get SCSI -- IDE is limited in that you don't get a 'full duplex' capable RAID array -- information can only go one way with IDE. With SCSI information can come and go as it pleases. Not to mention you get many other headaches with IDE RAID you just don't want.

I was not aware of problems w/IDE raid and I wanted to use my tape backup that is IDE also. Is the tape compatible to use w/scsi raid? Thanks for all the help.
P.S. the mb is both scsi capable and ide. |

If you have SCSI ports and you require a stable RAID system will last for a reasonably long time then I suggest you use SCSI. How were you planning to integrate your tape drive into your IDE RAID?

I have not done the assembly yet but I was planning to connect the tape as the slave on the sec. Ide and the cd rom as the master sec. Ide
