Hi catk102
Sorry for the late reply - been busy. I don't have a WinME machine around to double check, but if it has the same options to "Hide unused icons" as WinXP has (they have a similiar set of interface screens) - then see if you can right-click on either the taskbar or toolbar and look in on the Properties. When they are hiding, you should see a little arrow to one side, and when you click on it, the toolbar slides over to reveal the hidden icons. If it's not icons hiding because of that setting, see if it's just because the slider for that toolbar isn't over far enough to accomodate all the icons. As the taskbar and sytem tray fill up with running programs, they can scrunch toolbars that are placed right next to them. Post again if none of this helps. . . . Gary |

thanks for the reply i went ahead under the advenced options and disabled "moving and resizing" hope thats the one strange think is I'd be doing something for awhile and they just start disapearing one by one even if its just lets say time sound and AV icon in there the space is still there however maybe its some sort of windows bug? we will see as tonight goes on thanks for the reply.

Hm . . . time, sound, and AV stuff is usually in the system tray, not a toolbar like Quick Launch (or perhaps a customized personal toolbar). If things are disappearing from the system tray - do they still show up in the tasklist for running processes? (they should, especially the AntiVirus). If the AntiVirus is being shutdown without your approval, I'd try the Emergency Scan from DOS to see if the Windows AV has been compromised. (Recent Norton editions can run such a scan by booting to DOS from their CD)
Hopefully, it's just that display option. . . . Gary |
