E Key Brought Up Find Window and R Key Minimized Windows To Taskbar. Now OK or Not?

I am using Windows 98. Just a little while ago, every time I pressed the E key on my keyboard, the find file window came up and every time I pressed the R key, all my Windows minimized to the taskbar. I thought I might have had a virus but after I restarted, everything seems to be Ok now. Has anyone ever had any similar experience and might know what this is? I tried to run scanreg /restore in dos but that didn't seem to work. I am worried that it might come back because sometimes things work fine for awhile and then the bad things come back.

I guess it is possible to catch viruses just by viewing Web sites and maybe that is what happened since I was looking at some hacker sites though I didn't download anything that I know of.

Just the single keys on their own shouldn't do that unless you have a faulty keyboard or something else is wrong (as you mention).

Run a full virus scan (use an online scanner like Housecall or Panda) first.

If it occurs again, perhaps you should try a different keyboard to see if that makes any difference.
