Boom ADDAWIN Crisis "Bootfiles are missin from the C: drive!

Serious problem with Addstep1 feature on dual hd computer, drives C: & D:
respectively.

The proceedures outlined on website will not work anymore. I have tried them
all four times at least using various commands but I windows SUO168 message.

I tried this software six months beforehand with great success.

Over that past months D drive became faulty with messages about lost .vxd
files and so I deleted w2 (which is what is was) from C drive and attempted
to reinstall on "D" drive.

Now I cannot boot to either one. I think I have FAT trouble

Any suggestions would help.
I really need to know if I can copy boot files from my win98SE laptop to my C: PC drive so that I can boot normally
(Win98 CD is An OEM CD (holographic))

Renew w1 commands do not work.

"ren win.com win.ada"
and
"ren winver.exe winver.ada"

just give me a "Duplicate file name or file in use" message.

Last night I used to get a message that told me the file did not exist.

I downloaded addawin to my laptop and compared the files of that software to the ones in my C drive and many of them were missing.

I figured that if I copied them to the PC C: drive that all of the OEM fixes outlined at tweakhomepc.virtualave.net/dualboot/oemcdfix.html would actually work.

Now I'm stuck.

When I attempt to boot computer without the addawin boot disk (and the rescue w1 option doesn't work either) I get this message:

Invalid system disk

All of my files are still intact. I just can't get to windows.

Please help!!!

use a windows 98 boot floppy disk to start your computer
and at the c: prompt type sys c: and hit enter next type
scandisk and hit enter then type scanreg and hit enter
remove floppy disk and reboot

Got to C: windows but cannot install win98 on D:

Thanx.

I recently discovered that the following files were missing from my pc.

From the windows directory:
_win.com
_winver.exe
_ios.exe

The following were missing from my c:\addawin directory:
_opts dir
_rescue
fron wndrv subdirectory:
_winoff.bat
_winon.bat
_curwin.bat.

I copied these missing files from laptop to my pc.

The commands "a:\restore.bat W1" and "a:\rescue W1" still did NOT work.

but c:\addawin\rescue.bat W1 did work unlike last night when the above files were missing.

I have successfully booted to C: windows.

the addawins boot floppy I used was ver 3.5 and and the addawins on my pc was ver 2.7. Possible incompatibility?

3.5 is presently installed on C:with D: drive just completed surface scan.

Now I cannot install win98 on D: drive without getting "Warning SU0168:Your Computer Already Has an Operating System..." message.

Any Suggestions?

PS: I have already attemted extraction through sfc interface but I still get the SU0168 message.

I have attempted to extract it in dos with "e:\Extract /a base4.cab setupX.dll /l D:\

and still...the same message at win98 setup.

Whats a dilly to do?
