Wink Windows reports incorrect CPU speed?

Ive just finished build a new PC, specs as follows;

Abit AT7-Max2 (With latest BIOS)
Athlon 2700+
Twinmos 512MB DDR400 No ECC
MSI GeForce 4 Ti4600
Lite-on CDRW
Pioneer Region Free DVD
Aopen case with built in 300w PSU
Sony 1.44mb FDD
Maxtor Diamondmax 80gb 7200rpm HDD
Windows XP Pro

The CPU is set to 2700(333) in the bios, I have not manually changed any of the settings. Yet windows reports it as 1305~mhz. Ive download a couple of benchmarking tools and they also report the speed as 1305. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this, if not does anyone know what the correct manual settings would be for a 2700+. I dont want to overclock it as my cooling is probably not sufficient. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi elessar,

It sounds as if your FSB speed is set to 100MHz instead of 166MHz...it should be set to 166MHz.

This is a cross-post.

Sorry, I also posted this in Assembly/Overclocking as at the time I wasn't sure whether it was a CMOS issue or a problem with how windows reports the speed. I still can't get it sorted so I'll continue with the post in the Assembly/Overclocking forum.

Thanks

Make sure you set the correct FSB in the BIOS. If that doesn't help, you may have to get an update from microsoft to fix that. But aslong as the BIOS recognizes it, you are OK.
