Hi MARKBLACK,

What video card and monitor are you using?

Have you tried swapping in another video card?

Have you tried another monitor?

What are your complete system specs?

Did you install anything new prior to this happening?

Have you scanned for viruses?

Hi MARKBLACK,

Is this a store bought name brand PC?

Have you tried another video card yet?

Try this...boot into Safe Mode and remove the video adapter from Device Manager and then reboot. Windows will find the video card and re-install the drivers...might help. If not, try uninstalling the video drivers and then re-installing them.

WinMX?

Yeah its a Fujitsu - the store sells lots of other named brands though - I didn't fancy Pachard Bell or the stores own brand.
I though go for Fujitsu at least ita brand name.

I have tried uninstalling the driver, and reinstall its the same.

I can't really try another card first cos I don't have one plus the warranty will be void if I do - the store does opererte an exchange policy if a fault developes within 28 days - I only purchased it on 28th Nov so I'm well within my right.

I'm not sure whether I trust a repair.

Well a repair is certainly better than what you have now. Generally color issues like the one you have are usually a bad monitor or video card. If trying a known good monitor didn't changed anything it is most likely the video card.

I took the machine back to the store today they rang me a couple of hours later saying the monitor was faulty - I have no choice but to believe them.

Believe them. There are three color guns in a monitor, red green blue (RGB) and if one quits firing, the color will unbalance since the other two guns are the only ones you see and it takes all three colors to make white (no, really!).

I have an old Mag monitor that turns blue when it's cold and looks normal after it warms up. I know there's a cold solder joint in there somewhere, but haven't bothered to find it. (wife's monitor)

That's weird it did it with more than one monitor. I was sitting at a brand new Quantex Computer when the monitor sounded like a gun went off and it turned the brightest pink. It actually hurt your eyes.

Sorry 'bout that!
I missed the line that said, "tried another monitor it was the same". I got caught up in the excitement, plus I hadn't had enough coffee yet.

You're right! if a different monitor does the same thing, it's not the monitor.

(note to self: read thoroughly before posting stupidly)
