Problems downloading zip files

When ever this computer downloads a zip file it extracts the files in the archive. There is no option as to where to save the zip file you just see the files inside the archive.
This is a friend’s computer so I am not too familiar with it. He says he has not installed anything new lately. I have run a full virus scan with NAV along with running adware. Nothing was found.
He is running xp pro sp1 ie6.

If you are seeing the files that's where they are. You may have to go to Folder Options and check show full path in title bar. The titel bar should tell you where you are. You can cut and paste them to wherever you want. Or search for one of the files and it should tell you where they are. HTH

Fixed the problem; it was under folder options. For zip files the “confirm after download” box had become unchecked. This fellow downloads all types of things from the net so I am sure something changed the setting.

Thanks,
