Another Pagefile Q
In XP there is a box for "No Paging File" What, if any effects, does this have?

Not having a page file is usually a bad idea, and could prevent Windows from even starting. Unless you have a lot of memory (1 GB or so), it is almost always necessary to have a page file.

There's not actually an option for no page file but you set the minimum and maximum to zero. It's a bad idea to not have one at all. If you have enough RAM you can make it really small. But for some operations you must have one. Some software will balloon it up really big when open the program.
The best page file tweak is to put it on another drive that is on another controller than your OS is on. |
