How do I boot to "safe mode"? I'm running Windows98SE.
Thanks, tranman |

When pc first starts up, start tapping the F8 key and the options will come up. If it gets to the desktop, you didn't tap soon enough.

Hi tranman,
Just after your BIOS loadup, at the very beginning Windows startup, hit the Ctrl key. With todays faster CPUs, it's easy to miss the timing. TwoRails |

Blank screen blues
I thought that booting into safe mode would allow me to default to VGA and I would be able to see something on the screen. It didn't. I guess I'm still experiencing a video card driver conflict. Can someone suggest something I can do now so that I can see anything on my screen?

Check that
I tried F8 again and got it to boot in safe mode. Thanks, and hopefully I can make some headway with my video card problems.

I did it!
Finally! I wiped all the drivers and other associated video programs I could find, reinstalled the ATI stuff, and Presto! It works! My son is relieved, and I feel great! I learn stuff every time out with this forum. Thanks for the help...

FYI
You can also hit and hold the Shift key while the system is booting up...that will take you directly into Safe Mode.
