XP Pro to Home
Never heard talk of this, but is it possible to have the MS XP installer overlay Pro on top of an existing Home setup?

Yes I believe so windows will veiw it as an upgrade. I know you can't install home over pro. It gives you an error message and disables the setup function.

Yes you can. It's one of the few upgrades that actually works well. It will take up more space than a clean install but you won't have to reinstall anything. You may have to reset up the internet connection. If it's on a lan just leave it connected and it will configure it automatically. Unless you are using NetBeui or other protocol that is not native to XP.

I just did it, and it worked well, run setup from windows and then you get the choice for upgrade or full install. Just go the upgrade route.

XP Pro will upgrade over most of the other windows, it is at the top of the windows 'food' chain, it is the king so all others lay down before it and let it format over them.
well not really, but it will install over most windows easily
