Transferring Old LPs to Disk
Not sure if this the right forum. Running xp pro with SB live 5.1. How do you transfer lp signal from a turntable to the computer. Plug into sound card input? Can one use 'sound recorder' under accessories? Or can the sound card be use somehow? Need to steer me in the right direction.
Thanks, doug

Rather than go into the details here -- it's just so much easier to have you go to http://www.delback.co.uk/lp-cdr.htm -- it's the authority on LP to CD-R transfer.

The "sound recorder" under accessories would work, but it's time-limited.
I'd use Creative Recorder, it's bundled with your sound card. I always used Creative Recorder to record from old tapes. RJ

I use Goldwave and a Y-adapter. RCA out from stereo, through male-to-male RCA cables to Y-adapter to audio input (aka mic) Or, headphone jack on stereo to input (depending on phone port, you may need an adapter) using a male-to-male cable.
