Losing time.

Not a big deal but does the clock on the bottom right run from the bios clock?

I ask because I lose time on this XP home system. Does not do it all the time. Like one time I was not on for a day and when I used it the time was 2 hours behind, or another time I left the pc sit for 2 hours and I lost a hour.

Yeah that's kinda weird. I never had problems with a PC clock until XP. I have mine set to update itself on the internet. But I know my notebook will lose time if it hasn't been on the internet. You might have to search around but M$ had a supposed fix that unregistered the time service dll and then registered it again. It didn't work for me.

It also doesn't hurt to consider the mobo battery, for a just-in-case. How old is that mobo, Airmack?

I would start by replacing the CMOS battery.

We actually had that problem on our old win95 Pentium PC. Had tech out, as it was under warranty, he replaced battery, but we finally tracked the problem down to that old DOS wheel of fortune game was causing clock to loose time. Just to make a point here that it could be software caused problem.

The DELL fix is just a script that unregisters the service and registers it again.
