Question windows 95 floppy disks

Trying to make a back up copy of my windows 95 floopy disks!
The problem i am having is, I am trying to copy to 1.44mb disks!
But the windows disks say they are 1.62mb. Never heard of such thing! does anyone have any ideas as to how i can make a backup copy ? Or is this the way microsoft makes the disks so they can not be copyed? Thanks to anyone who may give me a clue!
