Hello Speedy, and welcome to "the Mech"
![]() Ddhelp is a file included usually with Windows. It's only a help file (putting a message on the screen), but it's affecting Winmm. There are a couple of things to try. Find Ddhelp on your computer, using the search function in Explorer. See what folder it's in. Do the same for Winmm.dll Once you've found them, make backup copies, and put them someplace safe. Go to Start > Run > and type in: SFC This will run "System File Checker". Choose to extract a single file from the CD, do NOT do a full scan. Extract Ddhelp and Winmm.dll into the folders, overwriting the ones that are there now. Restart the computer when prompted, and see if you still get the errors. |

Okey thank you for making things clear
I might try that but i feel that waiting some time and install win XP instead is better. Since this isnt the only errors i get Anyway what could have most likley caused this error? I mentioned that this error first came a while after i installed kazaa (as far as i can remember) Is this a good guess or is it irrelevant? |

SpeedyDonkey,
It's usually a software problem..uninstall a software and it takes that file somehow.. You could of also removed the files by using spyware programs that remove spyware. I experienced this problem one time. I was using Search and Destroy Spybot, and I didn't know the coloring. So I removed ALL what it was showing for programs, I didn't backup my registry, so I was only able to boot into safe mode..I could of used scanreg in DOS, but I wasn't thinking at the time, so I reformatted..Although it was OK because I needed to reformat anyways

Okey thx for your replay too.
Even though i dont know alot about computers i belive it hasnt been deleted since i still find it when searching. So my guess is that either ddhelp or winmm.dll is corrupt. I have no idea why did it get corrupt though

You've already got a head start on troubleshooting this. If you think about it, you KNOW it was Kazaa that caused the problems.
Kazaa replaced the ddhelp and/or winmm.dll file when it was installed, and didn't put back the original when uninstalled. Run SFC, and it should fix that problem at least. You mention other problems, post them here (start a new thread if you like) and we can help you sort them out. That's what we're all here for
