Importing MS Outlook contacts from one PC to another.

I'm wanting to rebuild my old PC, but first want to move all the email contacts (Outlook) to my new PC.

Any help is appreciated.

I just want to remind you that using Outlook for email is very unsafe. It's very easy to get a virus through email messages through outlook. You better use web based email.

Just a few quick questions to better help you.

Which version of Outlook?

I went to http://support.microsoft.com, clicked on search the knowledge base, chose Outlook 97 and typed in export contacts, then clicked on Go.

I chose OL97: How to Back Up, Restore, or Move Outlook Data

I have been using outlook for 6 years, and have never once got a virus (that I have not caught - mostly inbound stuff).

If you are careless about what goes in and out of your PC, it doesnt matter what you use, you will have problems.

I have ALWAYS been safe and up to date on current virus issues and software, and have never had an infection/trojan horse actually execute.

There are lots of ways to do it but I just go to the contacts pane: hit Ctrl A, Ctrl C, then in an empty folder Ctrl V. I either burn it and mail folders to CD or to another drive. Then just cut and paste it back into the installation. It's not fancy but it works and it's easy.
