Win2K User Screwup - Urgent help needed

Hi all,

Need urgent help here. Win2K machine has a default user set to load automatically at startup.

I was forced to hard resetthe machine 'cos it hung and now it refuses to load the default user, instead loading a temporary profile with the same name.

What do I do?

All my custom stuff is in that user profile, and it is what I regularly use.

All help appreciated.

What if you log off and back on via the start menu and then login with your user name and password. Actually sounds like you lost your personal settings and preferences though if it is logging you in with same user name, cause I don't believe you can have 2 of the same user names.

Hi,

What it does is, the first time this happened, it told me that my default profile could not be loaded and that it was logging me into a temporary profile. Nowwhat it does is it has created a new profile by appending the name of my PC to my old username, which is what it is logging me into now. But the logon dialog still displays my original username.
